The new brand Sinemet 25/100 is no longer scored. Does this mean they are no longer supposed to be split? Or is it okay to use a pill cutter. My PWP takes 1/2 tablet every two hours. We are doing this because a full pill causes hallucinations and excessive sleepiness. He has been using Teva generic because of the supply problem but we would like to go back to the brand Sinemet.

We are this issue a lot. It is ok to score yourself and break. This formulation however may turn to powder and you may need to collect and take the powder---a true issue. This could lead to more rapid absorption and you may need to adjust dose up or down to compensate. Some trial and error with your neurologist....very frustrating for many patients.
