This post is for my 60-year old mom with ~11 years of PD. My mom has been considering getting long-term care because of her deteriorating condition. Being a US-citizen, what options does she have? What are the financial needs if we were to pursue it? She has not been employeed since she was diagnosed with PD.

This is a great question. What we do in our center is refer the patient and family to licensed clinical social worker. They can ask you a bunch of important question, determine your options, and discuss pros and cons.

Also, you may try a call to 1800 NPF helpline on the main website www.parkinson.org
