I under went DBS GPi procedure about 3 months ago. The procedure went off very well. However, since the last several days I have been unable to sleep. Matter of fact, in spite of my insomnia, my eyes feel wide awake. Is it possible that insomnia is caused by the procedure? I have searched the literature and not found anything to that effect.

It is possible but not likely unless the DBS settings are causing a hypomania or increased alertness. I would definitely discuss with your doc and sort out whether he/she thinks may be related. Timing of medication and DBS changes in relationship to your behavior could be very important. Sometimes we switch off the DBS for a few hours to see if there was a relationship. Only do this under a doc's guidance.
