What's the best way to speak to a PD patient about hallucinations. I realize that arguing with the patient is not productive and may even be harmful. I don't want to cause the patient any additional frustration by contradicting him when he claims to see things that are not real. I do tell him that I believe him when he says he see things, but I also tell him that he is hallucinating. Thanks.

Keep in mind that in many cases they have no insight and believe they are actually real. It is best to be patient and reassuring. It is also best to visit your doc and to work on optimization strategies to eliminate bothersome hallucinations. Here is one strategy:

Sometimes I wonder if what they see is real and that they just have better sight than us or that the medication brings out the better vision?

Thanks for the comment. You and the doc can usually sort out!
