They meander daily over to Mr. Stark's yard in the wee hours before day break and pee on that large solid tree at the end of the driveway. Occaisionally, one of the author's friends will curse their seeming disregard for the Truth or the other Truth or the Way or the other Way. Meaning no disrespect, they just enjoy peeing on trees.

They arrived early, they arrived fast and in the dawns early light, the workmen pulled the Park Place Hotel apart and bulldozed the debris over the embankment without even checking through it. Lucky for him, he and Argo, the wolf, were watching from behind a rock ledge over by the fish pond. For some reason he had sensed the end of this most excellent camping trip was coming, and he had removed what he could pack away and the dog in the middle of the night. Good thing he thought. Those guys would of bulldozed him too. Still early, he and Argo walked down the trail and peed on Mr. Starks tree and continued onto where he had been finding the food packages. Standing in line at the Salvation Army's Soup Kitchen he took his last pill. He didn't know how he would find any more of them. Looking around, he preferred his imaginary benefactor leaving food for him, but this was the hard truth. Pretending supply drops in the night made the food handout easier. Argo whined a bit and then with a bark, started down the street and disappeared from sight not to be seen again. Eating his breakfast, he reflected on how he got to this point in his life. After he was told that he had PD, his health spiralled downwards. He lost his factory job. Trying to get another one was tough. Nobody could insure him, he was harrased cause he appeared stiff and slow and the handfuls of pills sparked lots of questions. He didn't even know long had he been gone?

It seemed to him that he had camped in hiding in the mountains for several months. But he realized now that it had been only a couple of weeks. It confused him that the first night in the Hilton cave he had eaten blueberries in a patch with the shark bears but now it came clear to him that the blueberry patch was in fact the produce section in the grocery store he was now walking past. That made sense cause blueberries don't survive winter in these parts. That night he was in the store when a swarm of kids in hoodies had invaded the store stealing stuff. Stuffing pockets with food. He remembered the triangular hoods above the rows looking like sharkfins cutting the air. He took advantage of the confusion to freely gorge himself on fruit until the owner chased the unruly teens out of the store. Walking back up the trail into the "mountains" it came clear to him that it was not really that big of an adventure deep in the mountains. He had been camping on the back 9 of the local golf club on the outskirts of Town. Hah! Life was strange he thought and sat down on a park bench and contemplated.

THE END
