About Me

Parkinson's symptoms, meds, habits
Age 71. Diagnosed July 2013, but seem to have had symptoms for many, many years.  Waaayyyy back!  Back even farther than that.
Symptoms include mainly profound fatigue, tremors, poor balance, apathy, continuing worsening of executive functions, difficulty in recalling names and words, micrographia, clumsiness, and mild and very occasional dystonia.
Sinemet 50/200 5 times day.
0.5 mg Alprazolam and 10 mg. Melatonin nightly (both for good night's sleep, no vivid dreams)
5000 D3, 2mc copper, hydroxyurea, Wellbutrin and Cymbalta all once daily
Organic extra virgin olive oil on organic bread toasted in a.m. with one or two boiled organic eggs
Organic kefir/yogurt--6-8 oz daily.  Hummus and guacamole and lots of fresh veggies and fruits, fish and lean meat, and cottage cheese.  Eat organic as much as possible.  Limit sweets.
Prilosec once daily (am trying to wean off of this by the changes I've made in diet)
Essential to get 8-10 solid hrs. sleep nightly.  10 is best.

Other medical issues
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome--Helps to get plenty of sleep, rest at intervals during the day, and limit stress (I don't do so well re: stress).
Clinical depression--treated well with Wellbutrin and Cymbalta (as Bupropion HCL X--300 mg daily and Duloxetine 90 mg daily)
Esophogeal spasms, hiatal hernia, acid reflux--Prilosec once daily in morning
Itching--Allegra as needed.  Sometimes use ice on itchy areas, and it helps.
Meningiomas (slow growing)--Followed by yearly MRI.  Potential surgery in next year or so
Filamentous Borrelial Dermatitis (systemic issue related to Lyme Disease pathogens--Research ongoing)
Polycythemia Vera (a blood malignancy)--81mg aspirin and 500 mg Hydroxyurea once a day; 1pt. blood drawn every 6 weeks as needed to keep blood thickness under control.

Phil. 4:6,7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
