I stayed "in the closet" till I decided to stop working. I understand the challenges of that. Hang in there -

Delta , I am sorry that you face such challenges. I was diagnosed in Jan 07 at the age of 37. The first neurologist failed to diagnose me so I sought a second opinion. My second neurologist diagnosed me after 1-2 minutes of observation. Anyway I am now 45 and of course symptoms have progressed. I hate to tell you but I do not recall the specific data but most marriages do not survive a diagnosis of YOPD. Try your best to make it work but it's a challenge. I can tell you my story. When I was diagnosed my wife began to pull away. They say that in a marriage both husband and wife try to "run" away from th PD. But as I found out I was just chasing my tail. So she became distant , possibly had an affair which I could not confirm then eventual divorce. I have a 14 yo daughter and a 13 yo son. They were younger than yours so it hasnt been as hard. I have a doc appointment so I will return. Keep your chin up -

I haven't had any luck finding YOPD support groups nearby. I live in Baton Rouge La. If anyone knows of one close please share. -

Adam , I am originally from New Orleans but have lived in Baton Rouge since 1999 -
I meet many elderly people with PD but never any with YOPD. I am 45 years old. I was diagnosed in Jan 2007. I feel as though I am "the last of the Mohicans". Anyone else out there with YOPD? Hello?
