  2. Parkinson's Disease & Dementia

Hi Tom My wife is ambivalent of my PD.Another case of outer environment we cant control.People don't know the reason who other people lack empathy or any other positive emotion is they don't take the time to practice it.I myself never experienced it much till I made a habit of visiting others at our VA hosptial.
  3. I've come to realize going to the doctor so far is a no win .Well the doctor does get paid but not much benefit for the patient. As far as center of excellence labels dont be fooled. In all my appointments with them never did they read my patient questionnaire . My personal solution to our poor care is to have patients band together and form a true patient organization and hire our own physicians to advise us.

Hawaii air has extra leg room seat very affordable i didnt have any problem on our flights
  6. Space is your best friend

we were in hawaii last year.Nice place to live.It can be also very reasonable.public transportation there so you don't need a car. There going back to being self sufficient with food there so it will be cheaper.Weather ideal for pd usually about 80 degrees every day,not hot or cold. Not for us now as all family in nys
  7. john pepper

I've been conversing with John for awhile. He has had PD twenty years now and he's eighty. He takes no meds and is still getting around. He uses concentration and brisk walking and a great sense of parky humor. After talking with him it has given me more confidence to keep going with my concentration and diversion.he did say that it comes back when he stops using it.This happens to me also.he didn't mention tremor.best thing he told me he hasn't seen a doctor since 2004.isn't that astounding. The mind creating new neural pathways. One thing that helps me the most now is having a strong purpose .
  8. help with emotioal issues

I use Dr.Low to handle any mental issues. He said if all his patients did just one thing it would help the most.If you take the other man;s objective interpretation of your reaction. This is easy to do if you work at it.In PD we have a somewhat biological depression. In the morning I lay in bed and wonder how I can get up.Well Now I have to command my muscles to move one step at a time. One act follows another and soon Im active again. Our minds are run on imagination.Every act we do and other;s do is either judged as security or insecurity. If you combine this fact with using the view of the other man's reaction the benefit is before you

  10. Sexual dysfunction

Hi Noah I hope you feel better.I always feel pretty good once out of bed.I don't seem to let PD bother me much focusing on something else seems to work.getting involved in our government has done wonders for me.Again I hope you feel better. john
  11. Antidepressants and Rasagiline and Pramipexola

Great progress grey You are fortunate to have had little side effects from pramipexole. I never tried it but I did try ropinirole .Didn't work as well as sinemet so I dropped it.Your so right about exercise helping.Long walks are great. Hope your doing well john
  12. Apathy - any suggestions

Apathy in PD is overplayed.Like anyone you have to move your muscles to reeducate the cringing brain.lol I have changed some old habits but I do a lot more new things that I ever thought Id do I might give up some fishing but I plan on doing more golf Despair leaves me when zi get out of bed.lol I take less c/l than 3 years ago now
  13. Otolorn Well common sense is always best.We have had 2 blizzards already. The first I wondered why no travel adversary so I caaled our media.Later that day usre enough our sheriff posted a advisory,I dont credit but you be surprised what is overlooked today.lol The second storm we got it all overnight about 2 ft.I myself didn't go out till roads were better.I do have a 4 wheel drive dodge truck with all the gadgets .These trucks are great but they don't stop any better than cars.people drive them fast by my house i pray they suddenly don't have to stop. As far as PD stopping driving ,it depends any things.I have found we have common deficits in this area. One is pulling out safely.Somehow we might have a problem at T intersections calculating traffic.I am aware and always look at least twice slowly before I pull out on the road.Another is at night we can get a little confused where we are.I have found paying special attention no "nightdreaming"lol has taken care.I do drive slower but I can say Im a safer driver than many.. The best advice is maybe get a outside evaluation privatly.I use to have some aweful jerks but they always calmed down while concentrating. Then after a med change they went away for awhile not there back but mildThise years of constant concetrating payed off and gave me a skill.I only wish my doctors could have been more professional in helping me .Even today they still cling to a physiological cause Hope your doctors are better. john
  14. Apathy - any suggestions

PD or not everyone thinks of them selves and what they do as exceptional.Dr.Low said it's ok to think that just don;t believe it.LOL he also said to lower our standards and our performance will rise. I have found I look for what needs to be done first, then go on to wants. Also I have been doing better with les c/l,sinemet tends to soothe our brains a bit to much. Don't seem to have much concerns for memory or mental capacity.lol Humor is our best friend, temper (fear worry, anger)our worst enemy
  15. inhaled levadopa

ive had very good luck using a small amount 100 mg comtan with my 1.5 25/100 c/l.I only take 2 doses a day maybe half pill at night.Seems many people have never heard of comtan from their doctor.I also found morning caffeine does the trick unless Im working hard like snowremoval.Today we got 2 ft .Spent several hours outside today was very warm in snowmoble suit.lol
