There are some people that have reported they are useful particularly for freezing. I will post for other comments.

My husband was put on SSRIs for Parkinsonism about a three weeks ago, I see an improvement : mood; smiling more; engaged in activities, interest. . As far as his balance, he went to PT and now I do 15 minutes per day of balance exercises with him and it seems to be helping or maybe its the Sinemit (that is being slowing increased) but he can get up and down from a chair with out losing his balance...And he made a fire in the fireplace and was able to be in a squat positon without falling over....There is an improvement...

Those are the things we tried...and received much encouragement and guidance from Dr. Okun......I wish you the best Newbie...

Joy St. Peter of "Joys of Living Assistance Dogs" trains assistance dogs for Parkinson's patients. She gave a demonstration with one of her "in training" dogs to our Salem Parkinson's Support Group. I know this doesn't help you as Oregon is a long way from Florida. However, If you email her she may be able to connect you up with someone in your area. This URL will take you to her web site and a testimonial from a local high school science teacher who has Early Onset Parkinson's and uses an assistance dog trained by Joy. The article contains some good information on the Bergin Institute training method.
