When to take the car keys away?

3 posts in this topic

We are facing the decision of when to take the car keys away from my mother-in-law. She has already had 2 minor accidents that she excuses by her "just being careless." I don't want her to hurt herself but I certainly don't want her to injure anyone else.

I agree, take the concern to her doctor. Consider a referral to a "Certified Driving Rehabilitation Specialist". Then, their evaluation can drive the decisions. Here's a couple of examples:

Most states also have some sort of "Medical Review" through their motor vehicles department that take anonymous complaints about drivers.
