New Parkinson’s book aims to help patients & caregivers around the world

Many of the valuable resources available to help patients with Parkinson disease are only available in English. In a new book Parkinson's Treatment: 10 Secrets to a Happier Life translated into over 20 languages Michael S. Okun, MD, the National Medical Director of the National Parkinson Foundation and the Co-director of the University of Florida Center for Movement Disorders & Neurorestoration, aims to help patients live well with Parkinson disease. “Parkinson’s Treatment: 10 Secrets to a Happier Life” is available as an ebook for $3.99 on Amazon.com and Smashwords.com (also available paperback on Amazon).

“Almost nothing is available to patients about basic lifestyle things in any language but English. Even in the most educated patients, who have access to everything, there are still lots of very simple things they aren’t doing. There are lots of things you can do to improve your quality of life.” – Michael Okun, MD

The new book discusses topics including medications, depression, hospitalization, exercise and more.

Thank you also to everyone that has written reviews online. We hope it will help many people in many languages. The cover has a quote from Muhammad Ali about how important reaching all cultures and languages is...

I just wanted to say thank you for writing the book. My father was dx 2 weeks ago and I bought your book for my mother back east and I bought her 3 others but she called and said your book was the best, she said she got so much more out of your book then the others.  ( will post rave reviews on Amazon)

Then I said  you know Mom...

"Dr. Okun is who Dad has an apt with Feb 26" She was over the top thrilled, she felt you explained everything so well ~ she got a great deal of comfort and most of all she got HOPE from your book, I could hear it in her voice. This alone is healing, So Thank You !

Also want to say thank you for being such an amazing support to PD patients and their families in this forum. As someone new to all this, it can be overwhelming ~ being able to read your past and present posts is a true gift.

You know people in teeny tiny towns (probably big cities too)  just don't have an opportunity to find someone so knowledgeable - I just can't imagine there not being a you in the world ! :-P  Seriously I wonder if you really know how much help you are providing !

Warmest Regards,

Rebecca

Dr. Okun, everyone should also know that your book, Parkinson's Treatment: 10 Secrets to a Happier Life, is also available on i-Tunes. I purchased and downloaded the audio version to my i-Phone and have been listening to it. While listening to it I realized there were parts I wanted to actually visually read and take time to think about and absorb the information, so I purchased and downloaded the digital printed addition to my i-Pad. Thank you for writing this very informative book.
