just started azilect and i'm worse

4 posts in this topic

1. am taking only carbidopa/levodopa, avg 800mg/day, get a predictable result but decided to try azilect.

2. day 1 took 0.5mg, felt somewhat different mentally, maybe a little "edgy", blood pressure ok, C/L worked as it always did.

3. day 2 took 0.5mg, waited 30min, took 125 mg of C/L on empty stomach as always and which normally takes affect in 40min and nothing happened.

3 hrs later took another 125mg C/L, no benefit from C/L.

2hrs later took 100mg C/L and 200mg C/L-CR, about 30min later started feeling some affect, took my regular C/L doses the rest of the day but never got the same relief as i normally get from C/L, mentally felt odd.

this morning took no azilect and `125mg C/L, switched on in about 40 minutes as usual.

question, have you seen this before with azilect and if so, should i just give it more of a chance?

i have tried selegilene in the past but stopped it due to ringing in the ears and other side affects but i didn't have this negative affect on C/L.

thanks

This is not a common reaction to Azilect but everyone is different. The typical dose is 1mg and I usually try that before giving up. Thanks for sharing your experience!

This should be a discussion between you and your doc. In my clinic I usually skip 0.5mg and start at 1mg.
