Okay I'm requesting support from all of you on this and here is why:

It may be soft at times, but We have a voice, let us use it!  I believe if enough of you go to YouTube, hit 'like' and comment on the following that we can get the attention of the casting team, who may cast me, or some other PWP.

I am 34 years old, Dxd with YOPD in Oct 2013, I am married (10yrs), have 3 healthy happy sons, & one more in heaven, I work from home full time, and these are just the basic facts...

For a long time it has been a dream or unrealistic goal of mine to get onto CBS Survivor (reality TV show).  For a while I wanted to do this to show the world that life does go on for grieving parents.  This was before Dx with PD.  It felt like I would need to start trying before I got too old, and that time was my biggest opposition.  Now since Dx I now also think it would be cool to let the world see another side of PD (very young and very early in the disease).  Mostly now I know I want to do this for myself as an once in a lifetime adventure, but since starting meds I now know that it wasn't just getting old, but getting sicker.  Therefore pressures of time seem all the more oppressive, as none of us PWP know how long we'll be able to function as well as we need to.

I recently made a new audition video for Survivor Casting that includes the fact that I have PD, and I have submitted it to them.  Sending in a video to them is the equivalent of tossing a penny into a fountain and making a wish.  With time running against me I am more determined to try every resource I have to get their attention, and I would like to appeal my fellow PWP to show exactly how many of us there are and that we support each other.  I'm not asking for any money or anyone to go public, but simply go onto YouTube, watch my 3 minute video, give it a thumbs up, and if compelled; make a comment about how it would be nice to see a PWP on Survivor.

To 'like' it on YouTube you have to go to the actual website (click on 'youtube' logo in the bottom right corner to go there) and be a registered user.  If you are not already registered I am not asking you to do so on my behalf, but YouTube is free to use and register.  Please don't think I am spamming the website as a few days ago I posted this within another topic, but now it should have its own string on here to make sure more people see it.  If you have any feedback I'm open to it, be it about the video or my request to get your support.  My goal is not to take advantage of others with the same affliction and I do not wish to bring any additional stress as I personally know the damage that wields.

Thank You

Thanks Daven, that comment on there is exactly what I'm hoping for, and I could not agree more.

Johnnys I agree but the reason I feel my time is limited for Survivor is it is very challenging physically, mentally, and emotionally.  These are all areas I am not as strong as I once was, and with PD feel they will continue to fade.  I will certainly keep in touch here regardless of whether or not I have lesser or bigger things in my future.  I thank you for your post.

Awesome idea young_dad, I would like my video and story to be seen by as many people as possible, hence the reason I am auditioning for a TV show.  Even if I don't ever get on the show, every time someone watches the video and hits that 'like' button it is a pat on the back letting me know as a fellow person you support me.  So please if anyone would like to, yes please share my video with your friends, family, social media.  We're going to show the world that no matter obstacles dreams can come true. It sounds corny I know, but I feel called to witness for PWP, and grieving parents.  If one person just Dxd with PD hears about me and sees I'm putting myself out there and trying to reach this outlandish goal, and somehow that helps them get through their Dx, then it is worth all the effort in the world for me to keep trying.  Also I liked you post in "it could be worse" tonight as well, I wanted to hit 'super like' option, unfortunately I already hit my limit.  But you have a couple likes heading your way soon enough. Thanks for the pats on the back tonight guys, I will keep going, and who knows what might happen.  No matter what, with God all things are possible, and To GOD Be The Glory.

am not finding your video.....blaming it on my parkinsons :)  what have you listed it under ?   finding many, but not yours ???  lu

LOL that is one of the few nice things about PD, get to blame it for our imperfections...  8)

For anyone who would like to view the video directly on YouTube in order to like, make a comment, or share more easily there are three easy ways to find it directly on YouTube.

A: the imbedded video about has the YouTube logo in the bottom right corner, if you hover over it the word tube turns red, this is a link to the video itself on YouTube

B: if you open up a Google search and type in "Captain Irish Survivor" in the search bar, my YouTube video should be about the third results that shows

C: if you go to YouTube.com and put "Captain Irish Survivor" in the search bar it should be the top video that comes back.

Thank you all for taking the time to watch my video, like, comment, and/or share it.  I meant everything I said above, these small gestures mean the a lot to me, regardless of whether or not CBS ever contacts me.

Richard

Rebecca that comment you put on YouTube was super sweet, you made me cry, and last night I was feeling like no one cares and I'm just annoying people by pushing my video. Thank you for proving otherwise.

Captain Irish had a good day between Rebecca's comment on YouTube and later I interacted with an actual Survivor contestant on Twitter private chat who gave me some solid advise.  Most of the advise would be applicable if I don't get cast this time around, but he certainly let me know I have potential either way, and he ended our convo with "Never Give Up."

The exposure on twitter has actually led to some negative feedback on the YouTube video already, but that's ok. I will "Never Give Up"

I will echo those words to all of us PWP to remember after a bad day.  Never give up, sure today was not your day, but tomorrow is around the corner, give it a chance and Never Give Up.

Felt compelled to share this YouTube comment in here, I've gotten a few very kind positive comments and I am very grateful for them, this one is not exactly kind or positive, but I feel it raises a good question or two, to which I am not ashamed of my answers and want to make sure I give those in this forum the full disclosure on how I feel.  In addition I don't know if the poster came from here, random search, or Facebook PD group and I am in no way trying to attack (counter-attack them rather), but give their opinion a voice since as well as my reply:

I've had PD 13 years and run 6 marathons in the time all under 3 hours, why you as our "ambassador"? We have MJF, Freddie Roach, & Muhammad Ali - all have done great things for PD awareness.BTW, will you be donating ALL the prize money (should you win) to PD research?

Actually I couldn't agree with you more, I think you should audition too. PD is not the only story I have to share or the only cause I would support. So NO I would NOT give ALL the prize money to medical research if I win especially after leaving my family for 39 days to be on TV.  If getting on Survivor is difficult, winning is 100 time harder.  I do think I have the right mix of skills to win, which is why I would even consider trying.  My goal is not to be the "Next PD Ambassador" and raise money for the cause.  My story is more of endurance, and will to not let PD stop me (much like you it seems), the awareness I wish to spread is to let people see the early stages of PD and maybe educate what it does to us.  You might be surprised how many people do not even know what a tremor is, and less know the none movement related symptoms of PD. Make no mistake, if Cast I would probably talk about my Son James as much as I would PD, and I'm not going to spend the whole time talking about my "problems" that is just not going to be good TV and the editors would probably not give me much air time if I did....

Apparently Mr. Johnson has not seen the Canadian version of The Amazing Race. You don't have to be rich and famous to spread awareness. We all do it every day when we appear in public displaying our symptoms, or teach a friend or family member about the disease, or share our experience, strength and hope here in this forum.

re posting since I am out of likes, thank you Dianne, I suspect Opi came from Facebook, as this Mr. Johnson is going for exactly what you are saying.  If nothing else I want that person just Dxd to see me on TV and know think, 'hey this can't be all that bad, this dude is on TV out in the wild with no shelter and little food and he's doing ok...'

Lu came on there and really put Opi in his place, I can't say I disagree, but for obvious reasons I curbed my tongue on there a bit...   You can see the whole convo on YouTube, not re posting here.  Thanks Lu you're a good friend.

WOW that is one narrow minded Professor ! I had to post a response to his comment. Normally I wouldn't post

anything that could add fuel to a fire but in this case I felt moved to say something !

Not sure if it was my meds, my illness, or just needing a release, I had an impulse to make another, more lighthearted video for CBS Survivor to express my emotions felt while waiting and hearing no reply:

should be worth a laugh, check it out.  Any fans of the show would definitely get a kick out of it, but I also threw some footage of me horsing around with a camera back on healthier days, that could provoke a laugh at my expense.

Check it out, let me know what you think.  Not looking to push this, just sharing...

OMG that is awesome, very creative. Wow that must have been a ton of work to put together.

Loved so many parts, but thought the Rocky and Superman was a riot !

Good Job !  This should get their attention.

You have a beautiful family !

Thank you for all the support, right now I think I need to see positive feedback on the Survivor dream. I put a lot of effort in this time around and the lack of response from CBS is disheartening.  I know not to give up, much like fighting PD, each day has ups & downs, but what matters is that we keep moving.  If it doesn't happen this time around I'm going to spend the next few months collecting personal footage to make a video that can't ignore, and as you can tell the more I use the Movie Studio program the better I get...  I'm going to chill on the self promotion for the time being, not wanting to annoy everyone to the point of tuning me out completely. I do plan to make one last push to be cast for this summer's filming and I will need as many people as we can rally if it is going to make an impact.  The next season of Survivor Premieres Feb 26th @ 8/7PM CST; I would like to get as many people as possible to make use of whatever social media they use anytime between 6:3/5:3PM CST to 9:3/8:3PM CST and send a comment to #Survivor that you want they to #CastJamesDad .  Their online media is going to be very busy during this time frame and if enough people send a one or two messages it could catch on and get people curious and start maybe even start a chain reaction that cannot fail to be noticed.  Anyway the idea needs enough support if it is going to work, I made need you to share the info with your friends and family and ask them to participate as well.  So let me know what you think, is that too much to ask at this point?  Obviously we have plenty of time to get the info out to more people but I'm going to hold off on spreading the idea until I get some feedback here first.

Thank you Rebecca, I'm glad my humor translated.  I appreciate you letting me know that you think my family is beautiful, I have always felt this way myself, but I am extremely biased.

No worries Lu, I know if you were on twitter you'd be all over it, honestly Twitter seems to be more of a venue for celebrities to ignore their fans and get a big head about how many 'follow' them and listen to what they have to say.  I has to be the least personal social media out there.  If you have Facebook that works as well for my above suggestion.  Also I plan to check on their website to see if there is a way to post messages direct to them there.

Metfan31,  Huge thumbs up from me!

Thanks Dan, hopefully I get their attention before PD apathy and Requip mood swings cause me to lose hope.
