L Dopa: can use of LDopa increase progression?

Recommended Posts

I am hesitant to use L Dopa/Carbidopa in fear it may increase progression of PD or I may become resistant to its benefits. I am 66 yr old female. Dx'd 6 mos ago. Have significant tremor full rt side. If I take prescribed doseage of 250/50 mg 4x daily, I am symptom free. However, I try to take less, and tolerate tremor activity, because I think I am prolonging effectiveness of the drug over the long span of the disease. Is there any research that the drug loses effect over time, and I shd try to save it for when I am in most need?

I appreciate your timely response. I now feel comfortable taking the prescribed dosage. My quality of life will be significantly improved. Your time expended on behalf of PWP is of great worth. Thank you.
