dat scans

2 posts in this topic

I was diagnosed with PD in Feb 2009, I had just spent 3 days in a hospital because at first I could not stand without falling backwards. While in the hospital I was given a drug that was listed on my sheet as being one that I was elergic to. One doctor did not believe the allergy was real even though 3 nurses told her I was allergic. She said let's try it anyway and see what happens. I spent the next 2 days in a living hell where I thought the hospital staff was trying to kill me. As I came out of the hallucination I was told I had Parkinson's and ended up on Sinemet 2 taps 5 times a day. (25/100).

The other day I started falling again and the doctor walked out of the room and never came back. She had seen me fall 3 times during the interview, but insisted those were falls but stumbles since I managed to grab something before I hit the floor. I was set up for a Dat scan in 2 month's but other then that was given no instruction on what I should be doing medical wise. The MDS was convinced I was faking and now I have no idea how to go about finding a new doctor and getting the statement that I was faking removed from my records. No one I contact wants to deal with my accusation of the faking statement. I fall/stumble close to 20 times a day if I am up moving around. I need help but don't have money to go running around searching for help.

I am sorry for your troubles.  We have a 18004PDINFO Hotline that may help.  Essentially, the most important thing is to get the DAT scan and show it to the next doctor.  If it is completely normal then it may not be PD.  It is also very uncommon for PD to start with gait and falling issues.  Hope that helps.
