Why isn't there an instruction booklet?  Why isn't this included in basic life manuals?  I am stuffed with newly acquired information, and still discover there is nothing out there to do but keep going one day at a time.  I guess I will continue hoping for the best, while writing weekly letters to politicians over PD research funding.

Hi Quiet

This forum is the closest you will come to an instruction booklet.  Don't be afraid to ask your questions here, it will make your days a little easier.  Chances are that what ever you are going through on any particular day someone has already been there, or is there now.  Please don't keep guessing or hoping for the best, find out from all the experts here.

Hang in there Quiet, and ask away because no one can do this alone.

Trying hard is right. I might add that there is no such thing as a dumb question, and no subject is taboo. Feel free to ask anything...... as this is a resource to help you. A living, breathing, brain bank of information............ Welcome to our world...........

There aren't really any questions...  Why me, perhaps, but that's fruitless.  It's more sitting there and watching bizarre pieces of life go by.  I knew something was wrong for years, I've been increasingly frantic for the past 3 or 4 years.  Nothing to be done but shake your head and go 'Is it me?  Am I going crazy?  Imagining things?  Trying to be overly dramatic?'

So yesterday we linked all of our finances.  Weird going into an office and filling out lots of forms.  We've been together 29 years, and have always kept our finances strictly segregated.  Not anymore.  Necessary, but another chilling wind.  I look around our house, I've been clearing it out for two months.  We had too much junk anyway.  I have to figure out how to get the front stairs replaced, no railings.  And what of the interior doorways?  They are 28 inches wide....

I know, take a deep breath and take one small step at a time.

Stairs and steps are evil.  I wish they can all be replaced with ramps.  Even if someone is not in a wheelchair at least they don't have to lift up their legs to go where they need to go.

And don't forget to measure halls and doorways. My hubby uses wheelchairs and electric scooters in narrow areas. You can't imagine all the dings and gouges, much less the frustration of trying to get into rooms that aren't accessible. I always thought handicap accessible was for other people!
