post-op DBS

2 posts in this topic

It has been 2 weeks now since My stage 3 of DBS surgery, putting in the generator. I am sore and stiff all across my shoulders, and my neck. When I turn my head I can feel what seems to be a large bulge where the leads run down my neck, and I am very tired at the end of the day. I am 57 years old and started back to work (desk job)last week and I am OK until I sit down for about an hour then I am very sleepy and when I wake up still very tired. Is this normal post-op symptoms from DBS?

Thank you,

Yes. You are still early and it may be too early to go back to full time work. It usually takes monthly visits to adjust meds and DBS to get optimal results. It takes a while in some folks to recover from tunnelling for the generator, and also from the actual surgery. Give it some time, and remember to treat sleep disorders, adjust meds and manage the PD not just the DBS.

Good luck.
