sublingual b12

Recommended Posts

Is it okay to swallow sublingual b12 made of methylcobalamin? Do you lose its nutritional value by not letting the pill completely dissolve in the mouth?

The reason for use of sublingual B12 is that it is absorbed orally (under the tongue). B12 from food or other supplements requires a substance produced by the stomach, called "intrinsic factor" in order to be absorbed. The sublingual form needs to be dissolved completely under the tongue, then swallow any saliva that remains.
