The Great Mimics or Parkinsonian Conditions

Recommended Posts

Dr. Okun,

Can you give me a list of other conditions which respond to C/L but are considered the "mimics" where it looks like PD, acts like PD, but isn't.   I'm thinking of the conditions like PKU, Glycinura, Lycinuria which may have adult onset, so they aren't going to be on a genetic panel.

Thanks!

Thanks for the question.  There are too many to list.  Some common Parkinson mimics are PSP, MSA, ley Body, and CBD.  Here are link that may help:

Probably best to look in some textbooks of neurology like Bradley or Adams.  There are tons of metabolic, infectious and degenerative conditions that have some symptoms that can look like PD.
