rasagaline side effect

Recommended Posts

I started taking rasagaline this week - my first med for parkinsons.  Is dyskinesias or dystonia a side effect?

Dyskinesia and dystonia are rarely seen as a result of rasagaline.  Be careful blaming rasagiline.  Usually but not always dystonia is undermedication.  Dyskinesia is over-medication (in general terms).

I'm currently on Azilect and baclofen, but it's not really helping dystonia in my dominant right hand, which Often is too painful for writing, typing and holding things. You've said that a dopamine agonist is possibly the next medication, or Sinemet. But which is more useful and will have an immediate impact on treating dystonia symptoms? The pain in my hand has been consistently terrible since last September and I've got to get a handle on it.

Usually the faster treatments for off dystonia are Sinemet (or Madopar) and/or botox.
