Drug Interaction

Recommended Posts

For my Barrett's esophagus, I have been taking one Prilosec OTC tablet in the morning before breakfast.  I am beginning a  non-time release c/l regimen, and wonder how long after the Prilosec I must wait to take the c/l.

Thanks for your help on this matter.

Bob,

I would actually take the Sinemet and hour before the Prilosec. Any medication that can decrease or increase stomach acid can affect the break down of the medication. By taking it an hour before the Prilosec, you will not have to worry about that possible interaction throwing off your Sinemet.

I hope this helps and please keep me posted.

Many thanks, Mark:

In re-reading my initial inquiry, I failed to mention that after a week's "trial" period, I have now added two additional c/l dosages...one around lunch time, another around dinner time.  Presumably the Prilosec's 24-hour effect won't interfere with the latter two dosages?

The overall stomach acid will be a bit lower, but it should not affect the c/l dosage.

This would be great time to use a journal and see if it does affect the c/l timing.

I hope this helps and please keep me posted
