jb, your family time sounds like it was so nice.  And that was a lot of food!

Thank you so much for your prayers.  I'm going for some tests this coming week at Hopkins.  I seem to get winded quickly when walking which, because of some other symptoms I have, may be tied to pulmonary issues.  I've handled my various diagnoses well for the health problems I have, but this potential one is especially concerning me.  Thank you for remembering me in prayer.

🙏🙏Linda!

Good Morning to you all.

Hi Linda.  I hope that you are getting good and proper care for your symptoms. Is it cold where you are. Be careful of your breathing of it is cold.

It has been cold here without  break. Like about minus 25 F. Nothing like being cold to make Parky Symptoms stand up to be counted. I do go to Toronto later this month for further assessment for dbs.

Not much else to report from this old farmhouse for tonite.

Be safe everyone.

Jb.

Hi, John.  Thank you for your kind post and concern.  Yes, all of my doctors are specialists at Johns Hopkins and are tops in their fields and wonderful and caring. My PCP has a reputation of being a top diagnostician. She keeps my hematologist and MDS in the loop, and I communicate on line with them and my other doctors.  She ensures I get the proper blood and other testing done, and she repeats any of those that look concerning.  Most recently I tried an overnight test wearing a gadget that was to diagnose whether I have sleep apnea or not.  I should hear today.  I'm sure I have it.  Anyone who can recommend a CPAP machine they like--especially the mask part--I'd love to hear about it.  Thanks.  I seem to have some sort of pulmonary obstruction.  Oh, joy.  This is what concerns me more than any of the other things going on.

We have had cold, windy weather which I always welcome!  And a little snow.  The loud electronic snow machines were whining early this morning, and I'm looking out on immaculate parking and walking cleared areas.  I much prefer to hear the scraping of snow shovels.  :-)  Nostalgia.

Wow:  You've had a really, really cold stretch when you say the temp has been -25F!  I envision you in your wonderful old farm house enjoying the wood stove warmth and the wonderful scent from the smoke.  How nice.  And soon you will be getting your DBS!  Has it been scheduled yet?

Yesterday I went to get blood drawn, etc., and had to do it fasting.  I was so confused about everything, even which building I was in.  It's hard enough when I've eaten, but it was really embarrassing with an almost-empty head and stomach!  :-)  And my latest thing is that whenever I have a cup of water with me as I do things, I drop it.  Not cool.

Take care, and be careful also with that slippery snow and ice and cold temps.  Do you have help with the things that have to be done outside?

Take care, and have a real nice day.  We're all so glad you have kept up this thread as a place to meet and greet each other daily.  You've accumulated a very impressive following with the number of views nearing half a million!

I read that only Florida, Arizona and California  are the states that are not getting blasted.    I'm in So Cal so I'm not complaining.   We had sunshine and 70 something degrees today.  :)

Good Morning world.,

Well, it is a cool one again. We had one day this week where it actually got warmed up for a daytime high of  -10 C,  but every night it drops to -25 C, last nite it was -30C (-20F).   i burn lots of firewoood but the gas furnace still has to make up some heat to keep the house warm enough. This is a new weather pattern in recent years where we get extended cold spells caused by the Artic cold air masses that stall over central Canada.  Instead of moving on, pushed and maneuvered by the upper jet stream, it seems to stop and linger because the jet stream is not  following the usual patterns . These upper winds should move this cold mass, break it up, allowing warm air to come up out of Colorado, Ohio or even the upper Pacific Ocean. Instead of this cold mass breaking up and swirling like a good old fashioned square dance with lots of wheeling, meshing and interaction with other masses and currents,  we have this big old Wallflower parked on the dance floor and everything has to  bend around it.  When the hot air comes up your east coast it hits this big chunk of ice cold air and rain, snow and fog happen.  The change in my weather is  because the jet streams are not behaving as normal.  And Science has persuaded me that the Jet streams are different because of Global Warming.  Or maybe that is all fake news. But something is causing big changes and big storms.

When people ask me what Parkinsons is like, they can often relate to my comparison to skating on an outdoor rink until you get really cold and then you take your gloves off and try to untie those laces and pull on your boots and tie up those laces almost like you were in slow motion. Then fish around in your pocket for the car keys and fumble with getting your frozen butt seatbelted securely in the car and then trying to hit the keyslot with your cold shaky hands.  Most Canadians have a feeling for that description.  Yesterday I went to town to pick up 1200 Levodopa pills for about $350.00, and a few other errands.  I was chilled, my hands were cold and this double negative did not make a positive.  I had cold Parky Paws going for my wallet, hiding in deep dark pockets, pulling gloves off and on and getting my list out and even had to fish out my cell phone and hit the right buttons cause my Mom phoned me from the Manor just to say hi.  I am lucky to live in small town Canada where everybody has a name and things go a little slower.  I was startled even myself how much of a job it has become to be chilled and do little things like put a credit card into its proper spot in my wallet.  I was struggling to do just that in a local store one day and the checkout girl saw my struggle and reached out and easily took the card and placed it in the slot in my wallet with a smile and casual conversation that I was grateful for and it seemed so nice of her with no hint of trouble for her and I certainly had no indignation about her touching my wallet.

There is more that I wanted to say this morning but there are things to get done.  Like feed the horses.  They see the light on in the kitchen and they like to whinny their hay demands over the fence at me.  They will have frost on their whiskers this morning.

Take care everyone, don't forget your sunscreen today Miracleseeker lol.

Hi all, not too  long till we start a new year.

Peace: We start our snow earlier than most. It's called Lake Effect. So we get more.

I had an urge yesterday to build a snowman and share with you all. But DH wouldn't let me cause it was (I think) only about 4 degrees. Someone told me when snow is too cold it won't pack right. Someone here maybe? I forget.

Those family gatherings are what I like the best. And as we enter the 2018's I don't make a wish (or what is that called?) cause I would just break it anyway. So I wish all of you a wonderful and peaceful year.

My fam made me go out and watch a movie. The new Star Wars movie is out. That's all I will say.

Happy New Year to all.

:-D

Happy New Year guys from Ireland ,,hope it's a good one.Glad you got our card jb.   Marcia one question you didn't say much about Star Wars not sure if that's good or bad..im asking because i just won 2 cinema tickets not sure as someone mentioned Star Wars hope you don't mind me asking.

Anyway folks take care and best wishes

Em

Hi Em, I had a response but had to do other things so I copied to clip board and I came back this morning and what I thought was saved was not. So I have to start over. Or it might be in the far reaches of my brain. I'd rather not get into that area.

I'll tell you what my DH and I thought but try not to give away the ending. They brought back a couple of the characters and I thought that was interesting cause they used the original actress and actor. These people looked their age which is nice. And they used a guy to play the bad guy who grew up in Mishawaka Indiana. I got this info from an interview he had with that night time show but I can't recall which one.

We are old enough to remember the other Star Wars. So we recognize some of the old plots. It seemed to us to be trying to include these or as much as they could.

We decided that it was a good movie to watch if not for anything but a conversation point.   But there are a whole lot of kids out there who have not seen the original movies. For them it would be as exciting as the original was to us.

So it would be your choice to watch or not to watch that is the question? What other movies are there and do you think you'd like something else better. I like science fiction.

The other Star War movies was out when my kids were young. And my son#2 had an Ewok village toy.He really played hard with it. So one day he came home from school and it was in the trash. He was really upset cause I wouldn't let him take it out of the trash. To this day he still talks about that. This has no value but I think it was funny. He does too really.

It's really up to you. I told a lady once I liked this one movie but she never mentioned it again but I knew she had watched it. So I guess she didn't like it.

jb, I enjoyed your Jan. 6 post, above. I always feel like I'm right there, visiting.

Have a nice day, and we always look forward to our next visit with you!

P.S.  How are the preliminary things going prior to DBS?

P.P.S.  Your description comparing how PD and being cold affect us in the same way is right on the mark!

Hi, jb.  You have got to read a story I just posted--by an author you may know of.  His name is John Erickson, and he wrote a series of children's books about Hank the Cowdog.  :-)   I just posted a story that he had written (not about Hank) but had never published.  It's in my  "Just Interesting Things About This and That" thread in the Open Forum.  You and he have the same writing style, jb!  You'll feel right at home reading this story he wrote, and maybe shed a tear or two, as I sure did.  And...see?  You could have been (and could still be) a successful, published author!  I mean it!!!  :D  You have an incredible gift.

jb, you are part of what inspires me to stay strong.

Good morning, y'all. I'm stressed and energy deficient and alive and blessed. Tomorrow is the Celebration of Life for my dad. I created the pamphlet for the event. It took much longer than it would have in the past. I felt great joy in doing it,  and that feeling is priceless.
