Requip Side Effects ...I'm so sick!

I've been taking Requip at night (2mg xr) to minimize the side affects (drowsiness and nausea, flushed feeling) but it wears off by mid-day the next day. It really helps me with my gait and balance so I would like to continue if possible...Side affects are hard to take though.
  2. Hi! I'm 43 and was just recently diagnosed. Started Requip yesterday (xr 2 mg) and could already see improvement in my balance and gait.  Unfortunately,  the medication made me feel flushed and very sleepy.  Is there any way to manage these side effects?

  3. Dear Dr.,

i am 43 and was diagnosed with PD two weeks ago.  Had my DaT Scan yesterday and the results were consistent with the clinical diagnosis of PD.  Started ReQuip today (2mg) and am so sleepy I can barely function.  The nurse told me I could take it at night.  Wondering if that would help my symptoms during the day?? I have no nighttime symptoms.

    Thank you for your help!

You may want to decrease the dose; go slower on titration and if this doesn't work switch to Sinemet,

    Newly Diagnosed and scared

This thread has given me a lot of hope and promise. I am 43 and was diagnosed last week. Glad to hear that so many of you are doing so well 10 -plus years post dx. It's wonderful to hear positive feedback that this disease is manageable. I am trying to stay in the now and not look too far ahead, but I am having a bit of a rough time. I have two young children (4 and 8 years old) that obviously depend on me and have been feeling guilt and sadness and anxiety over what might be.... Thank you for lifting my spirits! I have a DaT Scan scheduled in two days and will start meds after that. Have a wonderful MDS and am doing yoga 3-4 times per week. My primary symtoms are rigidity, muscle cramping, balance and gait problems. I do not have a tremor. Would love to hear any advise you all can give!

    Just Diagnosed

I am 43 and was diagnosed last week but have likely been showing symptoms for over a decade. I have seen multiple neurologists due to balance problems and gait issues but none mentioned PD until my recent visit with a body movement specialist. I am relieved to finally know what my issues relate to but scared also and trying to live in the now. My neurologist strongly advised yoga which I have been doing and plan to continue. I am scheduled to have a DaT Scan next week, and then will start with a low dosage agonist (rupinole?) after that. I am wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom or advice? I do not have a tremor, but my balance is pretty unsteady and people are constantly asking me if I am ok. I am trying to keep things in perspective but feel a bit overwhelmed. Thanks for listening!
